Great Panther Mining (NYSE: GPL; TSX: GPR) reported on Monday a fatal accident at the Company’s Coricancha mine in Peru — its second fatality in ten days.
The company announced, “with great sadness that an employee lost his life in an accident that occurred during the late evening of November 17, 2019 at the processing plant of the Coricancha mine complex.

The operation was undertaking further processing of stockpiles and limited mining, following the Bulk Sample Program completed earlier this year. There were no other injuries related to the accident.
“We are extremely saddened by this tragic accident and extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of our co-worker, an experienced plant operator who worked at the Coricancha Mine Complex for almost seven years”, said Jeffrey Mason, interim president and CEO in a statement.
On November 8, Great Panther reported a fatal accident involving a contractor’s employee due to an isolated rock fall at the San Ignacio underground mine, which forms part of the Guanajuato mine complex in Mexico.
At both mines, the areas of the accidents have been barricaded and closed off while investigations are completed.
The Vancouver-based gold-silver producer has seven mines, operating in Peru, Brazil and Mexico.
